Abstract: When receiving a signal under narrowband interference conditions, the use of a detector in the form of a cascade connection of a matched filter and a correlator with a discrete reference signal can give a gain in signal-to-noise ratio compared to a matched filter. This is because the correlator under consideration is not a linear device. The correlator performs the operations of irregular sampling of its input mixture, multiplying the received samples by some weighting coefficients and adding the weighted samples at the moment of signal termination. The moments of sampling of signal samples and weight coefficients are chosen on the basis of the criterion of minimum variance of the output noise component of the detector response at non-zero value of the mathematical expectation of the signal component.
