SHORT RANGE ORDER AND DIMENSIONAL EFFECT IN METALLIC SOLID SOLUTIONS

There is a brief overview of the basic results from theoretical and experimental investigations of short-range order in alloys. Mainly the experimental researches were fulfilled by X-ray diffuse scattering method. These investigations may be separated with accounting of dimensional effect. In the series of the first works the parameters of short-range order were evaluated from intensity connected with square of difference of atomic factors and with independent determination of parameters of linear dimensional effect. Subsequently the researches with independent accounting of quadratic dimensional effect were published. In later works more consistent method based on M.A.Krivoglaz’s theory was used. In this method the parameters of short-range order were defined from intensity connected both with square of difference of atomic factors and with dimensional effect without determination of parameters of linear and quadratic dimensional effects. In this brief author’s works with the generalization of X-ray diffuse scattering method based on M.A.Krivoglaz’s theory were stated. This generalization was expanded on alloys with close atomic numbers of components, diluted alloys, alloys with hexagonal close-packed structure, alloys with anomalous dependence of statistic displacements on concentration of components and also ternary alloys.
