The goals of research were: 1) synthesis of high pressure phases, 2) study of the rare phase composition, 3) study of the rare magnetic and sorption properties, 4) building of phase diagrams for pseudobinary systems in coordinates “composition-pressure”. Experimental methods for this research were: 1) X-ray diffractometry of polycrystals, 2) magnetic measurements, 3) Mцssbauer spectroscopy. In frames of this research were synthesized high pressure phases in intermetallic comounds of stoichiometry RT2 and in alloys of pseudobinary systems on their base like R’1-xR”xT2 and R(T’1-xT”x)2. Using this unique method of fabrication of high pressure phases there were found the possibilities to produce intermetallec comounds with the same chemical composition in two different structure modifications, i.e. to make “artificial” polymorphism and studied their magnetic and sorption properties.

Keywords : rare-earth intermetallics, pseudobinary systems of alloys, Laves phases, high-pressure phases, X-ray diffractometry, magnetic measurements, Mцssbauer spectroscopy, phase diagrams, polymorphic modifications, crystal structural parameters, giant magnetostriction, giant magnetic anisotropy, sorption of hydrogen and deuterium.
